The technique Joe demonstrates in this lesson is a must learn Country technique. 'Chicken Picking' is the name of the game in this video and is very common in Country genres. This creates a fantastic, unique sound you'll definitely want in your technique toolbox. In this lesson you'll have to utilise everything you've learned in the previous lessons as well as a few new techniques to add to your technique toolbox. Joe demonstrates some advanced 'Finger Twister' licks, double stops and volume swells. Add this to some Hybrid picking and you've got a challenge, but it is so worth it.
Getting the right tone in this playing style is important. Country Blues has a really specific sound and replicating it can be difficult. In this video Joe takes you through all of the gear he uses to get that classic Country Blues tone. You'll get to see his lovely white Fender Stratocaster and he'll show you what picks he has used for the series to get that crisp attack on the strings. He'll take you through those all-important amp settings on his Line 6 Spider, which is set to 'Twang.' Finally you'll get to see his delay pedal and learn what 'snap back delay' really means when it comes to playing the Country Blues.
